House of Friendship

The group of 10 volunteers arrived in Finland. 
They had the chance to discover more about this country and its traditions: they tasted some typical Finnish desserts and tried the authentic Finnish sauna.  

Between the working hours, the volunteers found the time to enjoy the good weather and the beautiful landscape of the peaceful Ystävyyden Majatalo. 🪷 They went on boat trips in the lake nearby and explored the surrounding area, they helped in the kitchen cooking typical meals of their own countries and worked in the garden helping renovating the area. 🛶

Andreia shared her experience during the ESC volunteering team "House of Friendship" 🌿

"the House of Friendship was my 4th ESC project. I choose to participate because I wanted to experience life in a nordic country, even if it was for only 14 days. I absolutely loved this project and the cultural immersion it gave me.

 From food, to sports, to traditions we were able to experience it all. We went to a birthday and a graduation party, we did sauna everyday and even experienced smoke sauna, we had storytelling nights and boat trips in the lake, and all of that made this experience so amazing and unique. It was also wonderful to see the contrast between south and nordic countries. 

I had 14 intense days in Finland that I would repeat in a heartbeat! The people I met there have a special place in my heart 😌"
