Nature School

The team has gathered in Yläne, helping the local youth settle in their new school and offering them intercultural exchange in their own home village with activities in the nature. 

One of the volunteers shares their experiences from the team so far:

"Our everyday life is shaped by our communal life in the small village of Yläne. As a group of 11 young people from all over Europe, we have a lot of interesting conversations and cultural exchange among ourselves

Some of the volunteers' thoughts and feeling below:

After experiencing the beautiful nature the region has to offer, we made it our task to share it with young students here by going fishing and canoeing at the local lake, playing games with them at the beach and grilling together in nature. Also don't forget about the amazing Finnish sauna ;)" 😍

🌱"This project exceeded all of our expectations. We were 11 volunteers from all around Europe gathered in Yläne, a remote location in the west of Finland. At first we didn't know much about the project was going to be, however, we got surprised every day by what we were going to do the following day: canoeing, fishing, cooking, organizing games for the children, assisting lessons in the local school, helping tasks around town... 

The organization was magnific and we all had so many great experiences that we brought with ourselves now that the project ended. During our free time we learned a lot about our cultures, languages, traditions, cuisine and we went for little adventures!"

🌈"The project was incredible. It was my first time travelling alone and working with complete strangers, but it couldn't have been better!
We spent two weeks in Yläne, working with local children and doing nature-related activities.
As volunteers, we cooked our own meals, shared amazing recipes from all around Europe, had some movie nights, board games nights, karaoke nights.

We had some free days too, which we spent exploring Finland: we visited Turku, went on a hike, enjoyed the traditional Finnish sauna and the beautiful nature that surrounded us. We got all along very easily, I couldn't ask for a better company!"

🍀"Best experience of my life! I am very happy with the two weeks I spent in Finland, I made new friends, learnt many new things and practised my English. The time went by super fast but it was always full and rewarding. I had a lot of fun, learned to listen better to other people's opinions and I will definitely do it again!!! Proud to be part of the ESC."
