Wellbeing from Nature
Here is how it went:
"Today we had some Finnish lessons and after that we made some bird houses for a nature protection project that has started in 2016. Thanks to our local teacher Kimmo, we learned a lot and we enjoyed it very much! Now, the bird houses are decorating the surroundings of the school and hopefully will be used by the birds living in this area"
"Hello from home. Indeed, we sadly had to leave Punkaharju and go back to our respective countries 😢. The last days in Punkaharju were great!

The volunteers familiarized themselves with Finnish nature and learned how to orienteer in the forest to avoid getting lost while hiking or berry-picking. The goal was to live in harmony with nature by tidying hiking routes, creating seal-friendly fish traps to protect the endangered Saimaa seal, and learning to make birdhouses for small birds.
"Last week we had a chance to visit Savonlinna, the biggest city neaby. We went to the castle Olavinlinna and after that we removed an alient species plant originally from Himalayas to protect local plants. Following days we were cleaning a forest for a furure statuepark. That is all for now. Hauskaa päivän jatkoa!"
Here are some thoughts after the experience:
We visited our amazing local teacher’s house to see how it is possible to live in a sustainable way with very little electricity and by growing your own food.
